Why does one story keep appearing in a feed? Why does a headline provoke an immediate reaction? And how do we decide whether a confident answer deserves our trust?
Luminae’s three-session schools programme gives students time to examine these questions. Our current focus is Years 12 and 13, while we would also welcome conversations with schools interested in adapting the approach for younger pupils. Through discussion and practical activities, students explore how information reaches them, how influence works and how to make more considered judgements.
These are connected aspects of information literacy and digital resilience. The emphasis is on understanding an information environment, rather than memorising a list of threats or being told what to think.
Generative AI adds another reason to examine how an answer was produced and what supports it. Our focus is the critical judgement that students bring to information, including AI-generated material. This is not a coding qualification or a course in using AI to automate teachers’ work.
The structured syllabus and facilitator-led activities are currently designed for Years 12 and 13. Educators interested in workshops, enrichment, a pilot or an adapted programme for younger year groups can use the enquiry form to discuss how the approach might fit their setting. Delivery arrangements and practical requirements are agreed with each school.

RIPPL is Luminae’s interactive social-media simulator. In a facilitator-led setting, students explore how a digital environment responds to behaviour and how patterns of attention can influence what appears next.
The experience provides a shared starting point for discussion: what did we notice, what might explain it, and how could we respond differently? The purpose is to make otherwise abstract mechanisms available for examination.
We are engaging with a small number of schools to run pilot programmes. Feedback from students and educators will help refine the sessions and their classroom delivery. This is a programme in development; we are not presenting pilot plans as evidence of proven outcomes.
